Ottawa Montessori School is seeking a dedicated and energetic Montessori guide for an Extended Day Casa class (8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) beginning September 2010. The guide's hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class has a morning and an afternoon assistant. There are 5 Casa classes in our close community of approximately 320 students from Toddler to Junior High. Our 50 dedicated staff are strongly committed to working together guided by Montessori pedagogy.
The ideal candidate will have Montessori Casa (Primary) certification and experience, with excellent communication skills and the desire and ability to work as a part of a team.

Criteria
Start Date: Immediate
Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
Requirements: Ability to work with children and a team, 16 years of age or older.
A police check (vulnerable sector) is essential. Bilingualism an asset but is not required.
Direct Report: Afternoon Assistant.
Job Description: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of the prepared
Montessori environment as directed. Assist with the supervision of children and oversee the departure of the children.
Any other duties as requested by the afternoon assistant.
Note: Interaction with children is limited.
Class Substitutes
We are looking for individuals to work with children from ages 18 months to 14 years. Occasional daytime work Monday to Friday. Experience with children preferred, bilingualism would be an asset.
